Melbourne University.
Feature wall mural artwork.

Our approach for this 'fixie' themed mural was based on 'customisation' as a major part of bike culture, with enthusiast commonly modifying their machines by incorporating a range of diverse elements & mechanical components.

This 'customisation' is portrayed by presenting individual elements throughout the piece that once brought together create complete bikes. Also featured within the composition is a 'skull' image created entirely out of bike components which acts as a motif of purist 'Fixie' aficionados who believe in riding brakeless, as well as a metaphor for the cafe's location, Melbourne University, & its various academic elements like poetry, philosophy, medicine, science & the arts.
